In 2021, the Australian Museum recognised the need to enhance their Project Management Office following the introduction of a number of critical capital programs of works and the requirement to meet the NSW Government Asset Management Policy for the Public Sector.
GovPartners were approached to partner with the Museum to boost their capability, capacity and to provide independent recommendations for the Executive Leadership Team.
Following internal changes in the Museum, GovPartners were approached by the Building Services Team to return and provide additional assistance in 2022, focusing on the management of more capital programs of works.
Through a process of rapid discovery into existing projects and processes, GovPartners gained an understanding, from inception to current state, of the Museums wider structures, procedures, gaps and opportunities for improvement.
A dedicated resource was allocated to site to establish fit-for-purpose PMO processes, to establish the strategy to meet the requirements of the Asset Management policy and to manage projects. The project management focused primarily on construction projects, and ranged from planning and pre-commencement, through to construction and completion, including writing tender documentation and procurements, management of contractors, liaising with experts and obtaining associated consents.
GovPartners also liaised with the relevant NSW Government entities to validate project requirements and to re-negotiate timeframes.
